Mother's Monologue

A Mother's Monologue My first monologue was interesting because I was failing to pull the emotion out of it and my professor pushed me until I almost cried and then I found an intensity that I think will be hard to repeat. I hope you will hear this monologue one day in my many many performances. Ah ah don't mother me. I am not a fool. I can see that the memories of your loss are still green in the veins of your heart, and your emotions are raw with pain and I understand all that but..... What else do you want me to do, except to tell you to look again into the mirror and see your shuttered expectations. My heart is torn by the lines of sadness on your pretty face. of late your frustrations are repelling every good thing trying to come your way. It's either you decide to change or this show is over. Princess I am asking you for the last time to look straight into the mirror. Life is not a bed of roses. If you want something meaningful out this life you have to ignite your own fire Human spirits were never designed to lie dormant You are so down and low: you can't even smile, you forgot the right to be yourself? Will I ever see you fly and soar high in the sky (Sighing) How did You loose your strength to fight? Don't give up now Princess. Look at your throne, your castle doors are open; you are this close, don't shoot yourself in the foot. Do you remember how You used to see yourself in-charge, bold and confident and Nothing was unreachable. I am your mother my deepest desire is to see your dreams come true.

I Like My Shoes-Yours Hurt

As a continuation from my last article on my blog I will tell you the reason why it is important for you to pursue your dreams. If you want to be honest with yourself you know time flies and before you know it you will lose energy and with old age you will fear to dream wild dreams because you will doubt that you might never have enough time to accomplish your dreams. Recently I had this idea of shoes bothering my mind because as I pursue my own dreams I also listen and I learn from everyone around me small and great people and believe me I learn from ants, birds and flowers. Birds build their own nests, and ants work hard to store their own food and plants produce their own food.

Some of the most important educators in my life are not adults but the kids in my family like my nephew. He asks me questions and believes everything his mother does not know I know it. He does not realize that his mother has to answer him on the fly and then she tells me his questions so I have more time to think about it before I see him. Well that is a nice aunt’s package that I will write about another day. So, I was with my nephew and we were headed to Shoe Carnival to buy some shoes for him. He likes to whisper things to my ear and I hope he will never stop to share his thoughts with me when he grows older. Anywhere, he said, “Auntie it is a good thing we are going to look for shoes because some of my shoes hurt and I don't know why because they used to be okay.” I laughed because to me he is growing so it’s okay for his shoes to hurt after a while. I told him it was normal I changed shoes too when I was young like him and I know the trick to find the right size of shoes. And one of the things kids have a hard time conceiving is to think you were once little like them, because they think you are fifty and you knew Harriet Tubman. Of course I learned that from visiting schools. So we went into the store. I told him we have a way to fix his problem. We needed to find out how big he had grown and each time his feet grow we will just come back and measure his feet and get the right size. He said, "It is that easy?" and I was happy to tell him it was that easy. So after a shoe salesman measured his feet I enjoyed that time of seeing his face light up and being amazed that all the shoes he was trying were all of a sudden comfortable. Ah that was magic to him.

I kept reflecting on this incident and I thought I like my shoes because they don't hurt and I have this policy if a pair of shoes is not comfortable I will not take it home. And I have seen many ladies after an event holding shoes and walking barefooted because those pumps can hurt if they are not padded inside. And since part of being creative is using perception then it became clear that if you don't follow your own dreams it will hurt more than shoes. So as much as you find the right size of shoes you can find your right size of dream and pursue it. The worst thing will be trying to fit into the shoes that you have out grown; even kids know when shoes are pinching and they will tell you that the shoes are no longer a perfect fit. My question for you today is in the field of dreams how are you doing with your shoes? I want to be comfortable in my own shoes both for my feet and for my dreams.

When being a nurse is trendy be careful not to put on the nurse's shoes if you are an accountant because people are not numbers; working with people will hurt if you don’t have a big heart. If you are suppose to be a nurse then be a nurse because in accounting dog eat dog and you will be ate up before you know it and that will hurt. Neither can you try to be like your role model because it hurts to be someone else other than being yourself because you are unique and as much as you have a unique DNA and fingerprints you can find your own place and be fulfilled with your own dreams and walk into your own destiny. I hope today you can be able to say, " I like my own shoes, yours hurt." This post is a snip pick into this new generation advive book that I am writing called, "I Like My Shoes-Yours Hurt"

I feel a surge of power to empower dreams, arouse gifts, harness potential, mold lives and cause a people to march into their destiny. Thy kingdom come, they will be done on earth in our lives as it is in heaven. I am determined to see you happening. I believe these few words and questions will be life changing.

"Wisdom is the principle thing: therefore; get wisdom and in all your getting, get understanding" Proverbs 4:7

I love these words from the wisest man that ever walked on the face of the earth and did practically get the wisdom even in the things he made mistakes he pulled out wisdom and warned us in so many ways and in this scripture he gives us an open call to step out and get wisdom and understanding. There is practically no dream that can be accomplished without wisdom and understanding and in this light let’s begin.

I am an artist so seeing comes naturally to me after so many years of using observation in drawing and painting. I have a passion to create and that drives me to perceive deeper than what meets the eye and leaning on that I love to dream big and I see a sea of potential in people so during the past year I have been asking my close friends to tell me their wildest dreams and some of them I asked for one dream that they could say was the biggest dream that they have; to others I asked for the one thing they could do exceptionally well if they had everything they needed and knew that they would not fail and what it would take to attempt doing something big without fear; just doing it for fun because that is what they love to do. The out come was amazing.

I also asked them to pick a favorite sport that they love and they can play or choose to work out in order to make their bodies fit for that sport like their favorite star in that particular sport. I told them to make that sport a model for their personal game of life. That too was outstanding. From this back drop I had to ask myself the same questions and I am asking you to ask yourself the same questions.
• What is my biggest dream?
• What is my favorite sport and why? What does it take to play this sport?
• What can I attempt to do if I knew I wouldn’t fail?
• What does it take to make your body fit if your choice of sport is (e.g. Tennis)
• What is the mental challenge I have? (education more or less, beliefs, etc)
• How is my internal dialogue? (positive, or negative, faith, doubt)
• What is stopping me from living my dream?
• What can I do to change the course of events starting from now? What will it take for me to play my game of life?

I am sure you need some time to answer those questions one of my friends took three days to answer two questions, “What is your biggest dream? What is your favorite sport?” I think if you just answer these questions you will do well. My brother said these questions are tough to answer but we did really well and now when I give my friends gifts and when I do a follow up on them I remind them their biggest dream as they keep on working on their goals. The idea is taking action and accountability and in the next post I will tell you why?

Confidence in God, self and in the dreams you hold
A sense of assurance that will not go away
A knowing that the Master has your back in spite of
In that confidence you stand and you believe
That what he has began he will finish because it is good

You deny to be denied and you cut against the grain
In the perfect calmness that he is so near
You feel his Spirit breathing on you
Whirling up a well of strength
Stirring your confidence; letting you know you can't fail
Neither can you fall because he won't let you
A cooling stream of peace tells you he will do it again
One more time he will come through for you
And you stand with an uncompromising conviction
Persuaded that there is no other out-come
But the victory that you see and embrace with confidence

walk in victory

I walk in victory,
I smile and laugh at the roar of sadness
My inner person understands
I am more than what meets the eye
I am this and so much more
Love joy and peace have won my heart
Thus I am not moved by this thorn in my flesh
Because I know I have a future and a hope
I will see tomorrow with newness and great expectations
My hope shall not be deffered
I walk in victory. I am the face of a winner.

Hold On

Hold on and never let go. Life has a nice way of shaking out the things you do not need even if you think you do. The tests that life throws at you are meant to strengthen you and not to weaken you. Of late I have seen that being on the top of your game is fine but what matters most is what you do when you are under the weather. Most people I know have no trouble when things are going on well but the moment the current flows against us we turn to forget the essence of who we really are. In the testing seasons we need to learn how to hold on because life rewards those that have a staying power. The greatest joy is not in the beginning but in the way you end a matter. So if there is anything that you want to harvest from stay at it. It can be marriage, education, a job, your gift, dreams etc. Stay at it, hold on until you win. Don’t quit you were born for conquest. Hold on and finish well everything that you have started. Hold on again and again till the day you will hear..."Well done, good and faithful servant."

From my book TWINKLES OF DAWN page 109
Hold On
Hold on, hold on, hold on a little while longer,
Let the storm take its course,
Let life and peace fl ow in your innermost being,
Though the wind may blow and swing you like the palm tree,
It’s your chance to show off what you are made of.

We can all learn from a crying willow,
As fragile as it might look,
when the storm is over, it will still be there,
Many trees will have broken branches,
Some will be uprooted but the crying willow will stand
With its leaves bathed and combed by the storm,
Calm and collected as if there had been no storm
The landscape will be devastated and sorrowful,
But the willow will not loose its grace,
And the palm tree will stand, as a symbol of strength;

Hold on and never let go,
Take advantage of the storm,
Spread your wings and face the storm,
Mount up like an eagle and soar high above the storm,
Speak peace to the storm and sing your song,
as you keep holding on,
Before you know it, the storm will be over;
Your vision will be crystal clear,
And you will soon perceive the blessings,
That surround you, and the glorious arm,
That covers you and leads you all the way.

Have you ever thought of it!

Have you ever thought of it that each time you are passing through a cemetery, the people that lay in these graves where once moving like you. Some had big dreams, songs to sing and books to write but not many of them were able to accomplish their purpose. That leaves a lot of wasted treasure in the grave but I hope if you are reading this today you ought to know there is hidden treasure in you waiting to be unveiled. As a matter of fact you are an inexhaustible treasure. Today is a day that you can choose to do more about the treasure in be continued
